 Lead Poisoning Prevention
Community Health Outreach Worker, Tung Tran leads the way on lead. Tran reaches out to the Southeast Asian community to educate people about risks of lead poisoning and urges parents to get their children tested for lead poisoning. For further information: (209) 468-3824
 Working With Teens
Lani Schiff-Ross, program coordinator for Adolescent Family Life Programs and Cal Learn, helps young people plan for a bright future. Program case managers provide individual help to teens in the area of setting personal goals for education, finance, healthy living, daily living and self-improvement. Pregnant teens find support and personal guidance for the health of mom and baby.
 Sheriff's Department
San Joaquin County Sheriff's Department and San Joaquin County Health Care Services team up for health. Sheriff's deputies and staff participated in a health and wellness fair as well as Prevention Service's Red Ribbon Week.
 Thornton Health Fair
The Office of Substance Abuse and San Joaquin A+ come to together to organize community prevention coalitions and promote positive alternatives for children in the community. Red Ribbon Celebration is a year-round program including a special Red Ribbon Week celebration every October. The 1999 event included Police Chief Ed Chavez, Assemblyman Michael Machado and OSA's Helen Ellis at Family Fun Day in Sherwood Mall.
